Sophie was a little jaundiced on the first day and unfortunately her billirubin went up to a level where she had to do phototherapy. I was hoping we could get the machine at home but the pediatrician insisted that we had to take her to the hospital. She was under the billi lights at the hospital from 4pm yesterday until today at noon. I was lucky that they allowed me to stay there overnight. I couldn't nurse her while she was there but I expressed my milk and we fed her the milk in bottles.
Apparently the reason for her jaundice is a blood type incompatibility between her and me.
Her billirubin level was down today and hopefully it will stay like that.

I'm so so so sorry! Jack was really jaundiced and had to spend the night under the lights and I cried and cried, he looked so pitiful. A really sweet nurse came to talk to me and said she knew it was hard to see my baby in that little bed and not hold him, but to remember that it was just a minor little problem that was easy to fix, nothing serious. We'll keep you guys in our prayers.
I will pray that you guys get some good sunshine for her to be in and that you get lots of good nursing in. God Bless.
