Teddy's Blog

I've updated Teddy's blog with the new books he has read lately and the ones we read to him. I will just use his blog to keep track of his reading. He won't be writing in it himself until he's older and able to do it independently.
Teddy has been going through this phase where he didn't want to read anymore and I've been worried about it. I tried everything I could think of to make him read: stickers on a chart, 25 cents per chapter and so on. Nothing really worked. I recently took him to the library and allowed him to choose the books that looked interesting to him (with very little guidance on my part) and I also promised him a Jack in the Box milk shake or cheese burger for every book he finishes. That did it apparently. I only rarely buy them fast food (about 1-2 times a month) and only if they've been good so this sounds like a very good deal to him. I just hope it will last.

Happy Birthday, Teddy!

Teddy turned 9 today. He got lots of presents and we went to Pagliacci Pizza with the Doyles and then came home and had cake.
The cake is a pirate treasure chest. Teddy got some other pirate related presents from his dad, including the t-shirt he's wearing and which I think I will have to hide because I think it is hideous! Anyway, I've been wanting to make this cake for a long time and I thought this was the perfect occasion. I got the directions for the decorations from Family Fun online. It was pretty easy to make and Teddy was very impressed. He kept hugging me and thanking me for "working so hard" to make his cake. He's such a sweetheart sometimes and I can't belive he's so grown up.
Happy Birthday Teddy!

The Shipwreck

Teddy had this cool field trip with the cub scouts last month. They visited this shipwreck on a local beach.

Our New Altar Boy!

Teddy served at his first Liturgy yesterday. We were so proud of him! He told me that he loved it and that he can't wait for next Sunday to serve again. He said that he couldn't wait to be an altar boy like the other big boys because he didn't like to sit in the pew with the girls and the little kids!!! Hmmm... He also said that when you're an altar boy you get more respect from people.

Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby

Teddy's car (which Dominic and Teddy built together) won 7th place out of 30.

Teddy's car was the 6th from the left in the upper row (the one with a Playmobil guy glued on).

Teddy's Blog

We're working on it. Teddy really wanted to have his own blog and when my mother-in-law recently suggested to me that I should have Teddy keep a list of all the books he's reading, I thought it would be a good idea for him to keep track of his reading and activities on his own blog. We're working on his first post now, it's not yet ready. He's writing a short review for one of the books he recently finished. I made a list of all the books he read this year (those I can remember) and listed them on there. That's all we have right now. Here it is : Teddy's blog.
